There are plans to extend the current prohibitory order that has been imposed in Kathmandu valley. The present order will come to an end at midnight on Monday.

Chief District Officer of Lalitpur, Dhundi Prasad Niraula, informed that there are plans to further extend the prohibitory order as a precaution because of the detection of the more infectious Delta plus variant of the coronavirus. Moreover, he added that the COVID-19 infections had not subsided as expected.

CDO Niraula also said that there are plans to extend the prohibitory order by one week. However, he said there has been no decision taken on whether or not to allow public transportation to open.

The government has allowed the domestic aviation sector to resume operations. Hence there is tremendous pressure on the administration to also allow the operation of public transportation. During the current prohibitory order the administrations of the Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur had allowed the operation of private vehicles albeit on an odd-even vehicle registration number basis.

Also, more shops have been allowed to open but on alternate days.
