CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli asserted that the religious tourism destinations were basis for development of Bhaktapur district.
Oli, also former Prime Minister, said so while visiting the Doleshwor Mahadev Temple at Suryabinayak municipality-8 in Bhaktapur district to observe and perform puja at the Lord Shiva's Temple marking the last Monday of the Nepali month Shrawan.
He viewed that the youths should work towards preserving the religious cultures and traditions that have earned distinct identity in the world.
Chair Oli observed, "People from all over the world visit Nepal due to our religion, culture and traditions. The religions and festivities here have further increased glory of Nepal. Many developed countries in the world do not have such cultures, traditions and ancient religions. That is why our country is so proud."
According to him, the notable footfalls of devotees attending the Fair in the Doleshwor Mahadev Temple premises had enhanced the religious significance of the Temple.
Oli, who was accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya, was welcomed to the Temple by CPN (UML) politburo member Mahesh Basnet, CPN (UML) central member Padma Aryal, Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur Khagendra Prasad Rijal among others.
