Pawsome, Nepal’s first pet bandana store is run by Jasmine Maharjan and her partner Sulav Lal Shrestha. Both Maharjan and Shrestha, being animal lovers, always wanted to create a visible link between pets and their keepers. They shared the same passion, so in 2021, they finally executed their dream into reality.

Maharjan says, "I always wanted a way to express my love and connection with my dogs. One day, we came up with an idea of making matching accessories for the pet and its keeper". "I was overjoyed at this amazing idea that would reflect the love between humans and their pets so easily", she adds.

Like a lot of people, Ranjita Tamrakar and Pranaya Manandhar lost their jobs during the pandemic in 2020. They decided to run a small business that would provide trendy quality clothes for fur babies and came up with Khicha.np. “We wanted to open an online clothing shop for pets with good quality at a reasonable price”, says Tamrakar.

'Khicha' translates to ‘dogs’ in Newari language. "We decided to use this name as it was simple and straightforward", she adds.

Tamrakar and her team went through a rough time during Dashain. "We decided to take external help with the production as the orders were piling up. We even bought him a new sewing machine and things were running smoothly. But after a few days he left for his village and we never heard of him”, she explains.

Both the companies have similar issues regarding production. As it is a small business and there is less manpower, sometimes it gets difficult to complete big orders. “Sometimes our customer wants us to deliver the order ASAP and we basically deliver our orders after 1-2 days", says Maharjan. "We try our best to deliver the products when they want it because customer satisfaction is our main motive", she adds.

“We are being cautious because of the lockdown that happened in the past few days. It is hard to buy products in lockdown and the sales will decrease indeed, so the fabric we have is limited”, she adds further.

Pawsome also saves 10% for street animals and shelters, in every purchase their customer makes. They are also planning to open a store in the near future. Khicha.np plans on making varieties of clothes and accessories.

Both Tamrakar and Maharjan are happy with their customers' feedback, love and support, and want to keep on serving the same way.
