Pandemic sure had an interesting outcome for all of us.

Staying in lockdown, to be honest, was not that bad if you followed all the trends.

From making Dalgona coffee or Oreo cake at home, most of us tried it all!

But while it was nice to stay home and connect with your family, we did miss going out to eat no matter how amazing your homemade foods were.

And now those things are coming back to normal, we all have faced the hustling and bustling streets of Kathmandu filled with people, dust and traffic.

In every nook and cranny, we can find new restaurants and cafes.

But do we really get food for our money’s worth?

When it comes to restaurants now, we all look for a place with a good ambiance, good food, ‘let’s not forget a good decor for photos’, and a place we can actually chill.

So, have you been to any place where you got it all?

Recently, I was introduced to a Pan-Asian restaurant, Mamagoto, which translates to ‘To play with food’.

This place delivers fusion food from different countries in Asia and they admit that their food is not authentic but it is the fusion of different street foods in the continent.

Whenever I think about a fine-dining place, I think five-star hotels and expensive restaurants.

But to find a place that serves four-course meals at an affordable price, blew my mind.

Not only that but this restaurant’s walls are filled with quirky, Japanese inspired pop-art.

You know you have reached Mamagoto the minute you see all of this graffiti style art form the stairs, ‘I was in Awe.’

And for the sitting arrangements, they have a private lounge on the inside, and if you want to stay out, they have a balcony sitting as well along with an outdoor bar.

In the evening, the ambience hits differently and they also have a place for live bands!

House Special!

Mamagoto, a Pan-Asian restaurant, serves from sushi to rice bowl.

And the portions are pretty big as well.

In the world of clicking pictures and Instagramming, it is a must to have a pretty looking dish!

“Eating is not just about taste but the visual as well.”

Talking to the head-chef of Mamagoto, Tara Singh Agri, said, ‘Mamagoto as a brand is not scared to experiment. We have a variety when it comes to food and drinks.’

I tried a lot of food there, and the more I ate, the more I wanted.

One thing that stood out for me was Bangkok Bowl.

The chef went on to say, “We normally fry the rice! And now the secret in the dish is the homemade curry paste we make using Thai-herbs! And while the curry is boiling we add chicken. So once it is done, we add some seasoning and toss the curry on top of the rice bowl. Finish it with some fresh coriander and cut boiled eggs.”

And since there is always a place for dessert, Mamagoto has got many desserts.

They have a very popular one called ‘Mango sticky rice’, but since it is a seasonal fruit it sadly is not available in winter.

But they have a coconut ice cream!

Made with vanilla icecream with fresh cream, and coconut powder and pieces of fresh coconut along with jaggery.

Even people who do not like coconut can have it as well!

To add to that, Mamagato has its own bar where you can get a variety of refreshing cocktails and mocktails.

They have created concoctions that cannot be found anywhere else.

Mamagoto has been sharing Asian-fusion foods with variants of drinks since a while.

They deliver good food and good vibes!
