Writer Sagar Jung Bahadur Rana's 'Kingdom Lost', a book on Nepal's history, was released here Thursday.

Former Speaker Daman Nath Dhungana, MP Raghuji Pant, historian John Whelpton and writer Rana jointly launched the book, which is written in the English language.

The book covers the post 1950s political upheavals of the country in a balanced and objective viewpoint.

Writer Rana, who grew up in a background and made significant contributions to Nepal's democratic movements, has written the book by compiling the conversations held with the politicians, military officials and the royal family members.

The book is based on facts and photos, and also carries the interview of noted culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi.

Commenting on the book, Dhungana argued that the book is the official text on Nepal's history. "The book covers the roles of Mohan Shumsher Rana to Gyanendra Shah. It serves as an official text," he observed.

The book delves into the Shah dynasty, political conflicts and its causes and consequences, among others.

Rana is also the central committee member of Nepali Congress and the Chairman of Nepal Arts Council.
