31.5 million vaccines arriving soon: MoHP

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 31.5 million vaccines of different companies are arriving in Nepal in a few days.

Ministry’s Co-spokesperson Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari said, “Covishield vaccine will arrive in a few days, other vaccines are also arriving soon.”

MoHP’s Family welfare Division’s (FWD)s, vaccine department head, Sagar Dahal informed that 1 million doses of Covishield Vaccines will be arriving from India soon. While China has granted 1.6 million vaccines to Nepal.

The ministry informed that one hundred thousand Pfizer vaccines will be arriving right after Dashain which will be assigned to patients with chronic diseases.

Two hundred thousand vaccines from the Maldives and four hundred thousand vaccines from Canada are also arriving soon informed the Ministry. Preparations to bring in 6 million doses of Pfizer vaccines are also going on.

Ministry’s Co-spokesperson Dr Adhikari informed that preparations to bring in 4 million doses of Moderna vaccines are ongoing. 11.5 million vaccines will have arrived in the country within December, 2021 whereas 6 million vaccines under the COVAX facility is yet to arrive, informed Dr Adhikari.

Preparations for the arrival of 6 million vaccines as per the purchase agreement with China are also ongoing.
