Minister for Health and Population, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, has argued that there would not be drastic change in health sector until Medical Education Act was amended.
At a press meet oganised by Nepali Congress, Makawanpur committee at Hetauda today, Minister Basnet warned that there would be no doctors in Nepal after five years if the Medical Education Act is not amended, saying that he was doing homework to create environment conducive for the study of medical science and nursing education in Nepal by amending the Act.
He further said the country can not provide quality health services if the production of skilled health workers in health sectors is not increased.
Stating that the Ministry had been working continuously to end the crisis and aberration surfaced in the health sector, the Health Minister, however, claimed there is a drastic change in services of government hospitals after he took responsibility as the health minister.
According to him, further positive changes would be seen in the health sector within the next six months. He also shared that he was active round-the-clock to implement basic health services to people.
