COVID cases growing in Nepal

The number of corona infections has been increasing in Nepal for the last few days. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the infection rate in Nepal has increased by 0.9 per cent in one week as compared to the previous week.

In a week, 2,239 corona infections were added from across the country through PCR tests, according to the ministry. According to the ministry, 209 people were infected during the antigen test. Similarly, 1,811 people have been infected and 13 have died. In the last 24 hours, 370 people have been infected in Nepal.

Since the corona infection in Nepal, antigen tests have been performed on 48.94 million people till now. Of which, corona infection has been found in 8 lakh 30 thousand two persons. Of those infected, 11,601 have died and the death rate in Nepal is 1.4 per cent.

Till now 25.5 million 21 thousand 639 vaccines have been administered so far. Out of the total population, 48.4 per cent have been vaccinated with the first does and 35.6 per cent have been fully vaccinated. Along with the United States, Europe and African countries, a new variant of Corona 'Omicron' is spreading in neighboring India.

One million people have been confirmed infected in a single day in the United States. In Nepal too, Omicron has been found in three people till now. The government has also started preparations to prevent the third wave from spreading in Nepal.

The Epidemiology and Disease Control division of the Department of Health Services has urged health offices across the country to take precautions to prevent the spread of the omicron variant. The government is aware of the third wave, said the ministry spokesman, Sangita Mishra. "In order to avoid new variants and new wave of corona, the government has intensified testing and vaccination," explains Mishra.

The Ministry of Health and Population has stated that the person entering Nepal should have a PCR test report. Spokesperson Mishra said that if the PCR report of the citizen from abroad is positive, the contact tracing will be done immediately. Dr Mishra informed that health desks have been set up at airports and various border checkpoints and if found anything suspicious, they will be kept in quarantine.

Mishra suggests that everyone should follow health standards to curb the spread of the new variant.
