The government is giving vitamin A and deworming medicine to children under five years of age today.
The Family Welfare Division under the Department of Health Services is going to distribute vitamin A and leprosy medicine on November 19 and 20.
The department has requested the parents to visit the vaccination center in their vicinity and give their children vitamin A and deworming medicine. Those who missed eating today can be fed tomorrow (November 3rd).
Vitamin A capsules will be given to about 2.7 million children aged 6 to 59 months during the two-day campaign. Similarly, 23 lakh 93 thousand more children between 1 to 5 years will be given leprosy medicine, according to the department.
To reduce the risk of health complications and malnutrition in children, the government has been running the National Vitamin A program since 1993. The medicine for leprosy was started from 1999.
In this program, 52 thousand health volunteers from all over the country will be mobilized. Vivek Kumar Lal said.
