Businessmen of Halesi arrested for possession of Marijuana

Yuvaraj Rai, 51, and Dhiraj Rai, 33, of Durchim in Halesi-Tuvachung Municipality-5 were arrested on Monday with marijuana. They were arrested by the police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Halesi based on information provided by the locals that they had hidden a large quantity of cannabis in a bag at Suitekhola near Bataseghat in Durchim.

Chief of the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh Lamsal informed that a case has been registered against the two in the district court on Wednesday. The two have been remanded in the custody of the District Police Office for seven days for further investigation.

Magam Rai, 57, of Katike in Mahadevisthan of the same municipality was arrested with 15 kg of ganja from his house on August 20. A police team deployed from the Area Police Office, Halesi, arrested Rai with marijuana and filed a case against him based on information provided by the locals that he had hidden the banned drug marijuana in his house. Police had arrested two youths from Bahunidanda of the same Municipality-1 on September 15. Subash Rai, 21, and Avin Nepali, 23, of Bayakta in Bahunidanda, who had been producing drugs using marijuana, tobacco, and lime, were arrested from the industry and prosecuted.

Seven kg of marijuana, 15 bags of male brand tobacco packed, two bags of open tobacco, two bags of lime, one bag of plastic packing machine, one drug-making machine, two bags of drug packaging stickers, two bags One iron gamble, and one grenade were suddenly recovered. Police had filed a case against them and destroyed the raw material recovered from their industry.

Similarly, police had seized 20 kg of cannabis from the house of Kul Bahadur Rai alias KV of Ratmate in Ward No. 7 of the same municipality on March 19. According to the police, Rai, who was involved in the cannabis trade, is absconding and a case has been registered against him in the court.

The District Police Office has been conducting a campaign to destroy the illegal cultivation of cannabis by the locals of the Halesi area and stop the sale and distribution. It is said that the police team deployed from Area Police Office Halesi and Police Post Chasmitar have destroyed millions of rupees worth of cannabis cultivation this year alone.
