Communication services remain disrupted at Mudkechula rural municipality of Dolpa district for two weeks. The communication services were cut off as a telecommunication tower which was damaged due to lightning has not been repaired yet.

The Nepal Telecom's tower at Adalekh, Mudkechula rural municipality-5 was damaged by lightning. The area borders with Jajarkot district.

Although the Nepal Telecom Regional Office Nepalgunj has been informed of the damaged telephone tower, it is not yet repaired, the rural municipality chairperson Datta Bahadur Shahi said.

Nepal Telecom Regional Office deputy director Shiva Khanal said preparations are being made to depute a team for repairing the tower.

Meanwhile, a report from Dolpa said transport service has halted in the district for three days. Transport services along the 14-kilometre Sunpani- Dunai road section have come to a standstill after the jeep operators stopped operating their services, demanding a hike in the transport fare.

The jeep operators have stopped operating the vehicles in protest after the District administration Office, Dolpa, ordered them to decrease the fare from Rs 350 to Rs 300.

The jeep operators say their protest will continue until their demands are fulfilled, citing that they would not be able to operate their services at the reduced fare. According to them, operating the service at this fare was economically unsustainable.
