Lawmakers speaking during zero hour of the House of Representatives on Friday drew the government's attention to control the outbreak of lumpy skin disease.
The government has been suggested to immediately take measures that help curb further spread of the disease which is taking a toll on cows. The lawmakers directed the government to mobilize all concerned bodies to curb the disease by ensuring adequate budget for it. Effective mobilization of veterinarians in each village with sufficient vaccines against lumpy skins is imperative, they underscored. Similarly, the lawmakers were for bringing a relief scheme for the famers who lost their cows and oxen due to lumpy skin disease.
Lawmaker Shyam Kumar Ghimire demanded further seriousness on the part of the government to control the disease.
Lawmaker Sumana Shrestha questioned why the quotas for veterinarians were reduced.
Sunil Kumar Sharma demanded the government to declare a relief scheme for farmers within 24 hours.
Sishir Khanal drew the attention of the government to have different agencies as regulator and operator of air service in the country.
Other lawmakers spoke on proper disaster management.
