Laxman Raut Barai, 58, of Mahadeva Village Municipality-4 has been sentenced to one and a half years in prison for beating a 24-year-old woman and aborting her fetus.
According to court information officer Bharat Mani Pokhrel, a bench of District Judge Ishwar Mani Ojha sentenced Barai to life imprisonment. The other three accused have been cleared.
The victim had lodged a complaint at the District Police Office, Kanchanpur.
