Minister Gurung instructs for prompt reoperation of communication services at Thame

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has directed for swift restoration of communication services at Thame village of Solukhumbu district by making alternative arrangement.

A flash flood was caused in the Thame River by the outburst of two small glacial lakes, thereby damaging Thame village of Pasang Lhamu rural municipality-5 in the district on August 16.

Minister Gurung instructed for communication reset after the people's representatives reported him about the incident and the area experiencing a disruption in the essential service at touristic village Thame.

The flash flood severely damaged individual and public infrastructures as well as a power house leading to disruption in electricity and telecommunication services among others.

The head-works of the Khumbu Electricity Company got damaged in the flood further exacerbating the disruption of electricity and communication services at ward no 3, 4 and 5 of the rural municipality.

The people's representatives had drawn the attention of Minister Gurung for the immediate resumption of telephone and internet services by arranging alternative energy.

The telecommunication service providers- Nepal Telecom and Ncell- were asked to urgently seek alternative to restore communication services.

Meanwhile, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka instructed the concerned authority to immediately resume electricity services at Thame village.

The Minister, contacting Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, said that electricity services had been disrupted at Thame village after the flood in the Thame River.
