Minister for Forests and Environment Pradeep Yadav said that preparations were afoot to draw the world's attention by declaring a climate crisis in Nepal.
At a program here today, Minister Yadav said that Nepal was at high risk of climate change consequences, and thus the declaration would be made after extensive consultation with experts and stakeholders to hog the world's attention towards Nepal.
Yadav asserted, "The impacts of climate change are taking place everywhere visually. Climate change is affecting Nepal's mountains, agriculture, and water resources. It's high time we declare climate crisis in Nepal and draw the world's attention to it."
The Ministry was at work to find out an apt 'modality' to declare the climate crisis, for which it required fact-based pieces of evidence, he said, adding that to this effect, they were researching ways and means. Climate change was evident and everyone had taken cognizance of its impacts, he stated.
