After fleeing Ukraine, 12 Nepalese have entered the Slovak Republic from the border. Jayaprasad Shivakoti, a Nepalese who is active in Slovakia to help Nepalese trapped in the conflict in Ukraine, has informed that he has been successfully released from Ukraine and will enter the Slovak Republic.

The Nepalese Embassy in Berlin, Germany, which also has jurisdiction over Ukraine, has appointed various persons in Slovakia, Poland and Hungary as liaison persons for Nepalese currently in Ukraine in case of any problem.

Shivakoti has also shared some important information on his social network. He urged all those approaching the border to leave the battlefield and try to contact his team members before reaching the border. He said, “If you need our help, we will send you an important border crossing document, which you have to submit to the Border Army.”

It is suggested, as far as possible, to travel with someone and especially to find Nepalese. If this is not possible, then travel with someone with the same destination. When traveling, one should not forget to carry all your documents, especially the travel related documents as well as the residence status card or confirmation paper of the university or employer. Similarly, it is requested to try to stay online and to have uninterrupted communication with any member of the Nepalese team involved in the rescue. It is said that one should try to share their positive message with others.

"The most important thing for us is the Nepalese people who are stranded on the battlefield. Please try to understand us. There are still many people waiting for our help from the battlefield despite your rescue," Shivakoti said. He urges people to try to find their own destination after rescue as far as possible. “However, we have made it clear that we are ready to assist you in your next destination.”

Dr. Bodharaj Subedi, who has been appointed as the contact person of Nepalese in Poland, had gone from Warsaw, the capital of Poland, to Medyka, the border between Poland and Ukraine. While there, he met four Nepalese who had arrived from Ukraine. For other Nepalese who are on the other side of the border entering Poland, Subedi had a conversation with the spokesperson of the Border Police. He mentioned there were no problems on the Polish side. He said no one was stopped after entering the Polish border. Subedi also met with a Member of Parliament from Poland. He was also informed by Subedi that Nepalese have been staying on the other side of Poland for 4 days. He said that there was an urgent need for them, adding that people from different countries, including India, were stuck there and expressed his commitment to help them all. Due to the extreme cold, there is a difficult environment. Subedi requested the Government of Nepal via the Nepalese Embassy in Berlin that their initiative should be on the other side of the border and said that he would be involved in it.

Some Nepalese have also reached Hungary and Romania from Ukraine. However, since Romania is not a Schengen country, Nepalese who have arrived there need a visa to go to other countries.

The Embassy of Nepal in Berlin, Germany requests all the Nepali nationals who are still in Ukraine to constantly follow the security advisory of the Government of Ukraine and remain alert, safe and strong.
