88 new cases of coronavirus reported on Saturday

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Saturday reported 88 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 273,351.

Of the newly infected, 31 are females and 57 are males.

Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 54 new cases of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. Of the newly infected in the valley, 17 are females and 37 others are males.

As many as 136 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 269,755 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Saturday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 98.7 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.

Likewise, the death toll from COVID-19 has remianed 2,061 with no deaths reported from the disease in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 1,535 active cases in Nepal.

Meanwhile, 2,136,309 people have undergone polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test as of Saturday.

Likewise, 1,535 people have been staying in isolation while 71 others in quarantine, the MoHP reported.

Earlier, the MoHP on Friday had reported 97 new cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the COVID-19 tally to 273,263.

More than 110.54 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 2,551,133 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 9:05 am on February 20.
