9 killed, 21 still missing in Bajhang landslide

Nine people have been killed and 21 others are still missing in Bajhang district due to floods and landslides caused by heavy rainfall since Monday.

As the weather has improved, the army and police are searching for the missing people, police said.

Eighteen members of the same family of Gagane Sarki and five members of the family of Nare Parki went missing in a landslide in Thaklara Gaonpalika-4 on Tuesday morning. Police said that the bodies of two have been found till now.

A landslide in Dhogdina of Bajhang district has displaced 148 households in two villages and buried seven houses. Likewise, six people have been killed in a landslide in Khaptadchhanna village municipality.

The deceased have been identified as Bharmaraj Rokaya, 45, of Majhigaun, Khaptadchanna and his wife Jaisra Rokaya, 41, Biru Giri, 47, of Kalukheti and his wife Chandra Giri, 45, and Dhanraj Joshi of Patadeval.

A 10-year-old boy has died in Mumla of Chhabispathibhera Village Municipality-2.
