Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand, who is also looking after the Prime Minister's portfolio, has arrived in Surkhet in connection with inspecting the flood and landslide-affected areas in Dadeldhura, Bajhang, and Baitadi districts of Sudurpaschim province.

Minister Khand will interact with the locals of the affected areas regarding the damage caused by the disaster and the steps to be taken for reconstruction and rehabilitation. Flood and landslides triggered by incessant rains from October 17 to 20 had caused a big loss of life and property in these areas.

The newly-appointed Chief Minister of Karnali province Jeevan Bahadur Shahi and the Nepali Congress local leaders and cadres welcomed Home Minister Khand when he arrived in Surkhet.

The Home Minister is accompanied by the lawmakers, former ministers, and people's representatives from these districts and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) chief executive officer Anil Pokharel.
