Monajir Miya, 38, of Rupani Chowk, Saptari has been arrested for killing a friend who he invited to cook at a party. The District Police Office has made the arrest public at a press conference today. A team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Kafle from District Police Office Saptari arrested him from Bode Bersain after receiving information that he had entered Nepal from India in the run-up to the election.
A complaint was lodged at the District Police Office, Saptari that Miya had murdered his friend Ram Sundar Mahato, 50, of Katti Tol in Bishnupur Gaonpalika-5 on September 25 last year. Mahato's body was found the next day in a public pond near Khandokhola in Shambhunath Municipality-1 of Saptari district.
After the body was found, he confessed to the murder and challenged the police investigating the incident to arrest him. He had been hiding in a monastery in India ever since.
The accused Miya had earlier been arrested from Bishnupur Gaonpalika-7 on May 27, 2017 AD with a pistol and a pamphlet of Goit group's Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha. He was immediately jailed and was released after nine months in prison.
