At least 35% to pass school level

A study task force formed by the government has recommended that at least 35 percent marks in any subject to pass the school level. The ‘Group on Alphabetical System in Education system Nepal’ has suggested that the minimum percentage to pass at school level should be 40 in internal or experimental examinations and 35 in theoretical.

Stating that the quality of learning has deteriorated due to the grading system, the task force has suggested making arrangements by bringing minimum marks in theoretical and practical subjects in school level examinations.

At present, grading is done only on the basis of total marks obtained by adding theoretical and experimental marks. By doing this, even if the student brings a lot of marks in only one of the theoretical or experimental aspects, there is a chance of passing.

So, the task force has suggested giving the original certificate only after completing the minimum grade in class 8, 10 and 12. The task force suggests that it would be appropriate for the student not to give the original certificate even the student has not completed the level by getting C grade in internal or external and D grade in theoretical or practical examinations.

The task force has suggested not giving the original certificate without getting at least D grade in each subject and C grade in internal or external assessment in the secondary education examination and final examination of secondary level.
