The government has expressed a commitment to create an environment conducive to make the education system skillful and qualitative.
In the budget presented by Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Poudel for fiscal year 2078/79, the government has expressed a commitment to provide financial aid to community schools on the basis of the educational results. A budget of Rs 10 billion will be allocated under the 'President's Educational Reform Programme' to develop infrastructure of community schools.
Likewise, the budget includes reforms in the alternative learning infrastructure, implementation of the work plan, extending internet access to students, taking the initiative to admit cent per cent students at the basic level, inclusion of pictorial texts in books and their distribution, to fix the minimum salary of school staff at Rs 15,000, free lunch for students of up to grade 5, appointment of teachers, broadcasting educational TV channels, free distribution of sanitary pads, appointment of one health professional in each school and extension of scouts in 13,000 schools, establishment of three more universities, the arrangement of educational loans of up to Rs 500,000 at a maximum interest rate of 5 per cent to post-graduate students.
A total of Rs 180.04 billion has been allocated for the education sector.
