The prohibitory order over COVID-19 in Baitadi district sharing its border with neighbouring India has been extended by 15 days (until June 29). A meeting of the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee (CCMC) held on Sunday decided to extend the prohibitory order beginning today at midnight (at 12 am).

However, the prohibitory measure will be flexible, said Chief District Officer Rajendra Dev Pandey. “Risks persist although the infection rate has decreased. So we decided to extend the prohibitory order,” he said. This extension of the prohibitory order is the fourth time in the district since the second wave of the infection took place.

During the barring order, fancy and fruit shops, groceries, and stores selling construction materials will remain open from 7 am to 12 pm. However, the health protocol should be followed.

Likewise, arrangements have been made to provide antigen tests for the infection for free. In the case of banks and financial institutions, they will remain open from 10 am to 1 pm by following the health protocol. Local-level will provide a pass to reach the workplace for employees. Vehicles used to transport construction materials will be allowed. Local levels should carry out economic and administrative work during a set timeframe.

Hotels, restaurants, saloons, beauty parlours, gym halls, and public vehicles will remain closed. Public gatherings for any purposes and sports activities will remain also closed.

Similarly, the prohibitory measure in the Dailekh district has been extended by 10 days (until June 24). At a meeting of the CCMC, Dailekh under the chairpersonship of Chief District Officer Hari Pyakurel decided to extend the banning order beginning today at midnight (at 12 am). Also, the prohibitory order in the Baglung district has been extended by a week (until June 21) beginning today at midnight.
