Additional bird collection and monitoring has been continued in Kavrepalanchok after bird flu was found in three places of Suryabinayak Municipality-10 in neighboring district Bhaktapur on Saturday. After the bird flu was found in the federal capital Kathmandu a month ago, various activities have been carried out in this district which is known as Purvi naka to adopt high vigilance.
The meeting of the district level technical committee has urged all the local levels to carry out various activities in this regard to raise awareness among the livestock farmers and entrepreneurs. "All local levels are urged to take the monitoring work seriously," said Chief District Officer Humkala Pandey. According to him, after bird flu was found in Kathmandu and neighboring district Bhaktapur, high vigilance has been adopted by organizing additional manpower for night test management in Sanga on the eastern border of the valley.
According to the District Veterinary Hospital and Veterinary Services Expert Center, the collection and monitoring of samples has been increased in Sanga by adopting vigilance in the import and export of livestock around the clock. He also urged the local level to coordinate with the businessmen for special discussions to prevent the infection, said Raj Kumar Humagain.
According to Humagarin, a bird testing center has been set up at Mangaltar of Roshi village under the BP Highway, the southeastern border point of the district, while surveillance has been adopted at other checkpoints connecting the district to the highway. According to the Center, bird flu samples have been collected and tested at various places in the district. Humagain said that the center is continuing the collection and testing of samples by increasing the monitoring.
Out of the 13 local levels of the district, Banepa and Panauti municipalities have already organized special discussions and awareness programs with the entrepreneurs for the prevention of infection. Bird flu has been seen in two places in Morang on January 27 and since then it has been seen in Chitwan and the capital Kathmandu and Bhaktapur in the valley.
