A severe variant of Bird flu has been discovered in Europe and Asia. A recent report submitted to the World Organization of Animal Health (OIE) states that the bird flu has been spreading in different parts of Europe and Asia.
Bird flu infection was found in a poultry farm in Chungcheongbuk, South Korea, on Monday. It is reported that 770,000 chickens on the farm have been killed since the bird flu outbreak. A bird flu sub-species called H5N1 was discovered for the first time this winter on a farm in northeastern Japan.
The Bird Flu has also been emerging in several European countries. According to a report by OIE, H5A9 variant of the flu has been found in seven thousand birds in Rogaland, Norway.
Bird Flu tends to transmit via migratory birds during autumn. The Belizian government has been alerted about a severe variant of bird flu discovered in a wild goose in Antwerp and has been requested to keep all their chickens enclosed.
Earlier in October, poultry farmers were vigilant of the flu in France and Netherland. A recent report submitted to the OIE makes it clear that the bird flu virus is once again spreading rapidly.
Earlier, bird flu had killed millions of birds, including chickens and ducks. Governments and poultry traders have been on high alert since the last outbreak.
Bird flu can also be transmitted to humans, which has drawn the attention of several health experts. This year alone, the H5A9 variant has infected 21 people in China. However, bird flu is not transmitted to humans by consuming chicken related foods.
