In order to complete the rituals according to the Hindu rites, the people of ordinary families have to struggle to bear the expenses. The families of 114 Batuks have benefited from the collective bratabandha conducted by Shaheed Jagat Prakash Jung Shah Sanskrit Secondary School in Devighat, Nuwakot, keeping in mind the families who are in trouble due to rising prices.
On the occasion of Shri Panchami, the school has conducted a collective bratabandha at Neelkantha Kailashdham premises in Bidur Municipality-5 Devighat today. Man Bahadur Dangol, chairman of the school management committee, said that the collective bratabandha started in 2055 BS to mobilize resources and run the affairs of ordinary families after the financial problem of running a Sanskrit school.
Manju Chitrakar, the principal of the school, said that the collective bratabandha program has become a means to ease the financial support of the school. Millions are now being spent on bratabandha. After the completion of the rites with a small amount of money in the collective bratabandha, the attraction of the rich and the poor in the collective bratabandha has increased.
This year, they have been banned from taking Rs 5,000 per batuk. After paying the prescribed fee to the school, the school has also made arrangements for a heavy dhoti, batuk and food for the parents. The school has informed that Batuk has come from Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Dhading and Kathmandu to participate in the collective bratabandha.
According to Chairman Dangol, more than 2,300 people have so far benefited from the collective bratabandha. The only Sanskrit school in the district is now conducting Sanskrit Gurukul style education by keeping students in the dormitory. The money raised from the ban will be used to run the dormitory, said Chairman Dangol.
