The investigation committee formed by the Home Ministry is preparing to submit its report next week about their findings about the disappearance of Jaisingh Dhami who fell into the Mahakali while crossing the Tuin in Darchula.
The committee has not been able to submit the report even after several extensions.
Coordinating Joint Secretary of the Committee, Janardan Gautam informed that discussions are going on among the members of the committee on the issue even today and discussions and coordination are being held with the district when some new contexts come up. "We have completed the investigation in a week and submitted a report to the ministry," said Gautam.
The ministry had formed a five-member investigation committee under the coordination of joint secretary Gautam to study the incident. The members of the committee are Chief of Far Western Province, Deputy Inspector General of Police Purushottam Kandel, Director of Investigation of National Investigation Department Hutraj Thapa, Senior Superintendent of Armed Police Suresh Kumar Shrestha and Assistant Chief District Officer of Darchula Jyotsana Bhatt Joshi.
The ministry had given 10 days to the committee formed on August 11 to find out the facts and submit a report. The team had gone there on August 12 for an on-site study. The ministry has extended the deadline three times, including this Tuesday, after the investigation was not completed. Earlier, the term of the committee was extended on August 13 and 25.
Earlier, the team had reached Darchula and returned after studying the incident on the spot. The team had discussions with political parties, government officials, journalists, locals, families of the victims and people's representatives. Dhami had gone missing after falling on the way to India after crossing the Tuin in Beas Gaonpalika-2 of Darchula. The victims and locals have blamed the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) for cutting the tuin, while others have said it fell into the river when the rope was untied.
