The Supreme Court has started the final hearing today in the citizenship case of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane.
The hearing started today in the presence of the constitutional bench of Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki, Justices Vishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Dr. Anand Mohan Bhattarai and Anil Kumar Sinha. After the hearing was not completed on Wednesday, it was kept under observation for today.
Earlier, on January 22, the court had asked to keep it as a non-payment case for January 11. It is said that a decision will be made in the said case after the arguments of the parties, the opposition and the government lawyers based on the evidence.
In the previous order given by the court, the documents submitted to the Immigration Department on 06 June 2075, and the documents related to the related actions, were ordered to be withdrawn from the Ministry of Home Affairs or the Immigration Department or the District Administration Office, wherever they are, within seven days. According to the order of the court, all the documents and details have come before the court.
Lawyers Raviraj Basaula, Yuvraj Poudel and others filed a writ petition raising questions about the qualifications of MPs elected as members of the House of Representatives by Deputy Prime Minister Lamichhane, who is also the chairman of the National Independent Party.
The demand for cancellation of the MP position of Deputy Prime Minister Lamichhane was made in the writ petition mentioning that he opened a political party without taking Nepali citizenship and became a Member of Parliament after competing in the House of Representatives elections.
