Hundreds of Nepalis who have passed the Korean Language Test that is mandatory for them to be eligible to go to South Korea for jobs under the Employment Permit System have launched a campaign on Twitter urging the government to do the necessary for them to go to South Korea.
The campaign on Twitter, which has been titled ‘Justice for EPS Passer’, has sought the government’s intervention to take necessary steps to send them to the destination. Many of the messages on the social media have been addressed to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli requesting him to hold talks with the concerned South Korean authorities so that they can fly to the destination for employment.
Meanwhile, Dambar Chaudhary, one of the job aspirants, has posted a message on his Twitter handle mentioning that that it has been 14 months since he passed the Korean language examination but has been stuck in Nepal due to the various travel restrictions. He too has addressed his message to PM Oli apprising him of the difficulties he has been facing along with other aspirants and has also urged the prime minister to guarantee employment.
Another member of the campaign, Asmita Lamichhane, has posted a message on how she left her regular studies to concentrate on passing the language examination but is now stuck in Nepal. She has mentioned that it has been nearly two years that some aspirants have passed the Korean language test but have not been able to go to South Korea for work.
Similarly, Bhim Prasad Thapa, has addressed his message to Prime Minister Oli mentioning that there are about 12,000 youths who have not only passed the language test but also the medical test but have been waiting in vain to go to South Korea.
Meanwhile, Rabin Prasad Acharya has tagged Bishnu Rimal, a standing committee member of the CPN UML, in a message addressed to PM Oli stating that other nations like Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos, among others, have held high-level government talks to allow their workers to go to South Korea but the Nepali government has not done anything substantial. He has also mentioned that he has visited the Foreign Employment Promotion Board, Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs many times but there has been no positive move from the government till date.
Job aspirants who had passed the Korean Language Test and the medical test have not been able to go to South Korea for employment since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent travel restrictions that have been imposed.
