Driver, helper arrested on charge of bribing police in Sindhuli

Police in Sindhuli district on Wednesday morning arrested a driver and helper of a bus on charge of trying to bribe police from Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-1 in Sindhuli district.

The arrested have been identified as 43-year-old Bhim Bahadur Silwal (driver), a local resident of Siddhalekh Rural Municipality-1, and 42-year-old Jamil Akhtar Mansuri (helper), a local resident of Parwanipur Rural Municipality-1 in Parsa district.

The bus with vehicle registration number PRA 3-01-006 KHA 0066 was heading to Banepa from Gaur. They were found to be operating the bus without any valid permission. Mansuri had tried to bribe the security personnel deployed at Dumja check post during a routine vehicle check by offering Rs 500.

The police said necessary arrangements have been made to transport the 29 passengers who were travelling on the bus to their destination.

Further investigation into the matter is underway, informed the police.
