Police arrested eight people involved in gambling offences in Birendranagar Municipality-5 in Surkhet district.
One of the arrested has been identified as Sakuntala Neupane (26) of Dhungeshwor Rural Municipality-5 in Dailekh district. Police have yet to identify seven others.
Acting on a tip-off that Neupane was conducting gambling activity in her hotel, Surkhet District Police Office (DPO) nabbed them on Monday evening.
The police also seized Rs 214,970 and 13 cheques from different banks. They also recovered one pack of cards from their possession.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, informed the DPO.
