The government has allocated Rs 26.75 billion to purchase vaccines against COVID-19.
While presenting the budget for fiscal year 2078/79, Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Poudel mentioned that all Nepali citizens will be administered the anti-COVID-19 vaccine free of cost.
Nepal has received 1.1 million doses of Covishield vaccine and 800,000 Vero cell vaccine on grant from India and China, respectively. Likewise, Nepal also received another 1 million doses out of two million doses of Covishield purchased from India.
Meanwhile, the Government of the People's Republic of China has committed to supply another 1 million doses of Vero cell on grant.
Likewise, a total of Rs 37.57 billion has been allocated for the prevention and control of coronavirus pandemic while Rs 5.6 billion has been allocated for the purchase of medical supplies required for the treatment of COVID-19, Minister Poudel announced.
