Himalaya Airlines' successful flight at Pokhara Airport

Himalaya Airlines Airbus A320 9N-ALV has performed a successful demonstration flight at Pokhara International Airport (PIA), Pokhara, Nepal today. A historic landing of the first narrow body aircraft has been conducted at Pokhara International Airport (PIA) by the airlines on this English New Year 2023.

For the Inauguration Ceremony of Nepal’s third International Airport, PIA, Himalaya Airlines took off from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu today, on January 01, 2023 at 13:11 hrs. and landed at Pokhara International Airport (PIA) at 13:44 hrs. becoming the first airlines to have landed an Airbus A320-214 in Pokhara. The aircraft 9N-ALV was welcomed with a water cannon salute as an inaugural gesture. Team Himalaya led by Mr. Vijay Shrestha, Vice President, Administrations and Captain Hao Di, Vice President, Operations was received by high ranking officials of PIA. The aircraft then departed at 15:44 hrs. and arrived in Kathmandu at 16:17 hrs.

Mr. Vijay Shrestha, Vice-President-Administration, who attended the ceremony has remarked, "Himalaya Airlines committed to the safe and secure growth of the aviation sector, has always stepped forward to support the development of the aviation industry in Nepal. Our Airbus A320 landing in Pokhara International Airport will definitely spread an affirmative message to invite the world to land in the beautiful lake city of Pokhara. Pokhara International Airport coming into operation from today is indeed a great opening for the adventure capital of Nepal to take its tourism to the next level. We believe our contribution thus supports not just the aviation industry but also helps for the overall growth of the tourism sector of Nepal."

In the first year of commercial operations, H9 received the international award for “Leading New International Airlines in South Asia” at South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2017.

In August 2020, Himalaya Airlines secured its first ISO 9001:2015 certification for Quality Management Systems (QMS) confirming Himalaya Airlines’ competency in providing Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering services in line with the Airline’s vision of offering highest possible standards in every area of its operation.

On December 29 2021, Himalaya Airlines became the first airline in Nepal to successfully achieve ISO 9001-2015 QMS certification. The airlines received the certificate in recognition of the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS) complying with ISO 9001-2015. The ISO certificate has been earned for “Providing Air Transport for Traveling Passengers and Freight, including Aviation Related Training Services.” The achievement demonstrates the team’s dedication to high performance work practices and a confirmation of the airlines’ ongoing commitment to quality.

To ensure flying with Himalaya is safer than ever before, starting 2021, Himalaya Airlines introduced Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) a life-saving device onboard all its fleet. With this, Himalaya Airlines stands to be the first ever and the only Nepalese airlines to carry AEDs onboard. With the aim to excel in safety, on time performance (OTP) and most primarily, in service to its customers, H9 has established itself as a trusted airline of choice and aspires to rise as a leading airline in South Asia.
