Internet service reaches 89 per cent of population in Nepal

A recent study has revealed that 89 per cent of the population in Nepal has access to internet services. The data of the first nine months (mid-July 2020 to mid-April 2021)of the current fiscal year released by Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) shows that 88.93 per cent of the population has access to the internet.

The authority had prepared the report based on the estimated national census (2011-2030). NTA had taken the base of the population as 29.87 million people according to the census. The authority has said that internet service has reached a population of over 26.88 million people.

Compared to the data of mid-July 2020 the number of people who now have access to internet services has increased by 5.26 lakh.
