Journalist Adhikari succumbs to COVID-19

A journalist from Dang, Damodar Adhikari, died of coronavirus infection. According to his family sources, journalist Adhikari, 40, of Ghorahi sub-metropolis-17, Belbhar died on Tuesday night while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.

Previously, journalist, Kamal Mishra (48) of Birtamod Municipality-8 in Jhapa district succumbed to COVID-19  while undergoing treatment at Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku.

Adhikari had cast his vote from Dang in the April 7 election to the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ).

He was diagnosed with coronavirus infection in the PCR test done at the Rapti Institute of Health Academy Ghorahi on April 8.

Adhikari was airlifted to Kathmandu via helicopter on April 16 for further treatment after his health condition was worsening.

Adhikari has long been working for Gorakshya National Daily. Only one son of the family, Adhikari is survived by his spouse, a son and a daughter. 

As per the Federation of Nepali Journalist Report, 8 journalists have lost their lives so far from COVID-19, 2 on this year and 6 on the previous year (2021).
