MoHP reports 339 new COVID cases, four deaths on Tuesday

Nationwide COVID tally hits 817,672; death toll reaches 11,482

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Tuesday confirmed the detection of 339 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 817,672. Additionally, 38 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.

Likewise, the MoHP has recorded four deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 246 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Tuesday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,482. Presently, there are 7,476 active cases in Nepal.

Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 145 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 101 cases, Lalitpur logged 33 cases and Bhaktapur logged 11 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.

As many as 170 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Tuesday, a total of 798,714 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 97.7 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.4 per cent.

Earlier, the MoHP Monday had reported 367 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 817,333.

As of Tuesday, a total of 4,520,580 people have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 7,476 people staying in isolation while 98 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.

Meanwhile, 2,991,749 people have been administered the first dose of Covishield vaccines and 1,735,738 have been vaccinated with the booster dose. Likewise, 5,918,111 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Vero Cell vaccine while 4,344,803 others have received the second dose as of November 16, 2021, the Ministry's data showed. Similarly, a total of 1,543,497 persons — 199,665 in Province 1; 362,363 in Province 2; 380,969 in Bagmati Province; 129,322 in Gandaki Province; 254,074 in Lumbini Province, 77,125 in Karnali Province, and 139,979 in Sudurpaschim Province — have been vaccinated with single-shot Janssen vaccines.

Likewise, Similarly, a total of 2,111 persons — 233 in Province 1; 94 in Province 2; 1,407 in Bagmati Province; 129 in Gandaki Province; 204 in Lumbini Province, 19 in Karnali Province, and 25in Sudurpaschim Province — have been vaccinated with Pfizer vaccines.

More than 253.75 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5,356,000 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in 2019-December, COVID-19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters. It has been reported that COVID-19 infections are still rising in 56 countries where The United States is the new hotspot of COVID-19 facing a daily surge of rapid infections.
