World Health Organization (WHO) provided 252,363 doses of Oral Cholera Vaccines (OCV) to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) yesterday. The vaccines were provided on the behalf of the International Coordinating Group of vaccines (ICG) Geneva, WHO, and UNICEF.
The vaccines were delivered through the GAVI alliance. A cholera outbreak was detected at Kapilvastu district, earlier this month on October 4. Similarly, the outbreak affected five places Krishnanagar, Maharajgunj, Shivaraj Municipality, Yashodhara Rural Municipality, and Bijaynagar.
The ministry is aiming to administer the vaccines to citizens of affected areas of Kapilvastu where the outbreak was detected.
