MoHP reports 363 new COVID cases, one death on Tuesday

Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Sunday reported 1,688 new cases of coronavirus infection.

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Wednesday confirmed the detection of 363 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 818,035. Additionally, 49 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.

Likewise, the MoHP has recorded one death from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 246 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Wednesday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,483. Presently, there are 7,636 active cases in Nepal.

Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 149 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 102 cases, Lalitpur logged 32 cases and Bhaktapur logged 15 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.

As many as 202 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Wednesday, a total of 798,916 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 97.7 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.4 per cent.

Earlier, the MoHP Tuesday had reported 339 new cases of coronavirus infection.

As of Wednesday, a total of 4,530,686 people have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 7,636 people staying in isolation while 99 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.

Meanwhile, 3,003,164 people have been administered the first dose of Covishield vaccines and 1,749,513 have been vaccinated with the booster dose. Likewise, 5,955,487 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Vero Cell vaccine while 4,382,889 others have received the second dose as of November 17, 2021, the Ministry's data showed. Similarly, a total of 1,543,497 persons — 199,665 in Province 1; 362,363 in Province 2; 380,969 in Bagmati Province; 129,322 in Gandaki Province; 254,074 in Lumbini Province, 77,125 in Karnali Province, and 139,979 in Sudurpaschim Province — have been vaccinated with single-shot Janssen vaccines.

Likewise, Similarly, a total of 3,220 persons — 483 in Province 1; 170 in Province 2; 2,074 in Bagmati Province; 171 in Gandaki Province; 264 in Lumbini Province, 26 in Karnali Province, and 32 in Sudurpaschim Province — have been vaccinated with Pfizer vaccines.

More than 253.75 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 5,356,000 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in 2019-December, COVID-19 Global tracker data shown by Reuters. It has been reported that COVID-19 infections are still rising in 56 countries where The United States is the new hotspot of COVID-19 facing a daily surge of rapid infections.
