A delegation of the National Dalit Journalists Association, Nepal, has met with Chairperson of National Assembly, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, today, and expressed concern over the anomalies seen on news putting the general readers and listeners in illusion in the recent period.

The Association today called on Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung and presented a memorandum, putting form various demands. On the occasion, the Minister said some policies and guidelines had caused issues for making the state-owned media inclusive. '' However, efforts continue.''

The Minister assured of support for the Association's first general convention scheduled to be held on March 12 and 13 29 in Butwal.

Association chair Pahadi asserted that news contents of the state-owned media houses and participation there should be inclusive and media run by Dalit community should be given a tax discount in the renewal. Such media should be entitled to special subsidies from the government, he argued.

The Association, an umbrella organisation of journalists from the Dalit community has over 2,000 active members across the country. It has been spread to 60 districts, and seven provinces and has the Kathmandu Valley Committee as well.
