Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed his deep sorrow over the demise of former Member of Parliament (MP) Lal Kaji Gurung.
In a condolence message on Sunday, President Deuba, also the former Prime Minister, bemoaned that NC lost a senior leader with the passing away of Gurung.
Reminiscing the contribution made by late Gurung in formation of party organization and democratic movements in the country, the NC President extended his heartfelt tributes to the departed soul.
Deuba also extended condolences to the bereaved family and wished for eternal peace for the deceased, the condolence message said. Gurung passed away in Kathmandu yesterday.
The condolence message released by NC central office's Acting Chief Secretary Dr Pradeep Parajuli, said that Gurung had played an active role in the democratic movements in Nepal as well as organization building of the NC.
Gurung had been elected National Assembly member in 2048 BS representing the NC.
The final rites of Gurung were performed in Pashupati Aryaghat on Sunday, the NC said.
