As per a bilateral understanding, the Nepal-India border in Kanchanpur shall be sealed for 48 hours prior to the elections in view of the election sensitivity. Nepal is holding the local level election on May 13.
Kanchanpur’s Chief District Officer Ram Prasad Pandey said the meeting also discussed about issues relating to the containment of cross-border crime and animal poaching besides the election matters.
Nepal-India transit points shall be sealed prior to 48 hours of May 13, the day fixed for holding the local level elections at all 753 units in a single phase.
