Nepal's Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Thursday reported 8,842 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 431,191. Additionally, 118 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the Health Ministry has also recorded 214 deaths from COVID-19 including the data from COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) and Nepali Army's dead body management statistics in the past 24 hours. As of Thursday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 4,466. The ministry had reported 225 deaths, the highest daily numbers, on Tuesday. Presently, there are 105,207 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have recorded 3,562 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu registered 2,733 cases, Lalitpur 481 cases and Bhaktapur registered 348 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 5,055 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Thursday, a total of 321,518 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 74.6 per cent.
Earlier, the MoHP on Wednesday had reported 9,238 cases of coronavirus infection that had taken the nationwide tally to 422,349.
As of Thursday, a total of 2,712,562 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 105,207 persons staying in isolation while 497 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
More than 160.50 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,473,282 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a Reuters tally showed as of 3:55 pm, on Thursday, May 13, 2021.
The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
