Police seize 218kg marijuana from fuel tanker in Bara; driver, assistant held

Police seized a huge cache of marijuana from a fuel tanker vehicle from a garage near Pathlaiya Chowk in Jitpursimara Municipality-1, Bara district, on Wednesday.

Subsequently, tanker driver Ghanshyam Giri (33) of Baridibas Municipality-8 in Mahottari district, and his assistant Rajkumar Dawadi of Khairhani Municipality-2 in Chitwan district, were arrested.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of security personnel deployed from local police post checked the vehicle (Na 4 Kha 2979) at Ramrahim Garage and arrested the duo after recovering 218 kilograms of marijuana, yesterday, according to police. The illegal drug packed in 19 packages were hidden in the chamber of the heavy vehicle en route from Kathmandu to Berauli in India for filling in petroleum.

Further investigation into the case is underway, informed District Police Office, Bara.
