Dogs named SHERE of the Labrador breed and TIGER and JOHN of the German shepherd breed, who have been working in Bagmati Province Police Office, Hetaunda Canine Branch for the past 9 years, have retired after completing their police service.
The dogs, named John and Shere, made 1,200 drug searches during their service, with various successes. A dog named Tiger performed duties by checking 700 times for the safety of special persons in various places including ceremony places, roads, parliament building.
According to the Nepal Police, police dogs play an excellent role in identifying criminals and investigating crimes in the suspicious incidents of a heinous nature that have occurred in the districts under Bagmati Province.
