Election Commission has started preparations for the presidential and vice-presidential elections.
As the term of the current president ends on March 13, the Commission has prepared to hold the election within February 11. The Constitution of Nepal stipulates that the term of office of the President and Vice President shall be five years from the date of election.
According to the constitution, the president and vice president should be represented by different genders or communities, so both positions will be elected on different dates instead of at the same time.
Federal Parliament (334) and State Assembly members (550) will be voters in this election.
