Preparations are underway to keep the rescued tigers in the Devnagar Baranda Bihar forest area. With the increase in tiger activity in Chitwan National Park and the intermediate zone, a rescue center under construction is being set up in Devnagar.
As the number of tigers in trouble has increased, the search for alternatives has begun. Currently, three tigers are in a cage in the park.
After two years and six months, the tiger cub leaves its mother in search of a new place. Chief Conservation Officer of Chitwan National Park Haribhadra Acharya said that work has been started to keep tigers at the rescue center under construction in Baranda Bihar forest area of Devnagar. There is no alternative to keeping troubled tigers in zoos or cages inside and outside the country. A concrete wall has been put up in the forest area. Currently, a house and a post are under construction for living with medical facilities.
Preparations have been made to build a large cage in the forested area to keep animals like tigers, rhinos and leopards. He says up to ten tigers can be kept in the area. The work is being carried out in a way that will lead to a long-term solution. Work is already underway in the area to keep the endangered wildlife.
Acharya said, "While organizing, the general public can be admitted for a fee." Currently, there are two tigers in Kasara and one in Sauraha.
There are tigers in two cages at Kasara, the park's main office. One of them is an eight-year-old male tiger brought from Banke. It is an estimated 10-year-old male tiger that was taken under control two years ago in Devnagar Belsahar Community Forest of the second park. The 10-year-old male tiger, which was taken under control from Rapti on April 12 at the Sauraha Wildlife Hospital, has been released a few days ago.
An estimated 7-year-old male tiger has been kept in the cage of the hospital in Bharatpur's Radhakrishna Community Forest. The tiger attacked two people in 10 days. So far in the current fiscal year, 16 people have died from tiger attacks. One of the employees died inside the park. Four tigers were taken under control and kept in cages. One of them has died after being released and the other is being monitored.
This is the highest rate ever killed by a tiger. According to the park's information officer Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, five people were killed by tigers in the previous fiscal year. Due to the increase in the number of tigers, it is estimated that many tigers have been seen and incidents have taken place. According to the 2018 census, there were 93 tigers in Chitwan National Park. At that time, the number was 235 nationwide. Tigers have been counted this year. Statistics are being made public on the occasion of World Tiger Day.
With the increase in the number of tigers, it has been proposed to build a model grassland inside the park. The park is working to provide habitat and food for the tiger. Tiwari says that it is necessary to manage the existing area as it is not possible to expand the space.
