Landslides occurred following heavy rain since Tuesday evening have disrupted road traffic in different places of the Prithvi Highway.
The landslides taking places in different sections of the 72-km Highway from Anbukhaireni to Kotre caused road disruptions.
According to the information provided by the District Police Office, Tanahun, landslides occurred near Kumle rivulet in Shuklagandaki municipality-7 triggered the highway disruptions.
Likewise, landslides occurred in Byas municipality-12, Ghabsikuwa and Chhirkan put the raod traffic out of gear in the Highway, shared Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of District Police Office, Tanahun, Yubaraj Timilsena. Efforts however are underway to remove the debris and open the highway since 3 am early this morning.
According to him, the highway was disrupted following landslides in Bandipur-1, Gurdum and Bandipur-4, Dumre. One went disappeared and five others were rescued when the landslides swept away two houses in Bandipur-4, Tamung, shared chairperson of the rural municipality, Purna Singh Thapa. According to him, the landslides took away three houses in Bandipur-3.
Similarly, the landslides triggered by heavy rainfall since Tuesday night in Myagde rivulet have inundated over 100 bighas of paddy field. Assessment of the loss and damage is underway.
