Public Housing Program: 437 houses under construction

A total of 437 two-room houses are under construction in Kanchanpur and Kailali under the public housing program.

 The government is going to build houses for the low-income dalits and poor families by allocating Rs. 100 million. Although construction work started under the program from last fiscal year, the work was affected due to corona virus infection.

 Chief of the Urban Development and Building Office, Dhangadhi, Govinda Devkota informed that 237 houses are being constructed in Kanchanpur and 200 in Kailali under the public housing program.

 "We have set a target of constructing 90 percent of the houses in the current fiscal year," said Chief Devkota. According to him, 66 houses are being built in Bhimdatta Municipality of Kanchanpur, 33 in Krishnapur Municipality, 33 in Rehabilitation Municipality, 39 in Dodhara-Chandani Municipality, 33 in Belauri Municipality and 33 in Bedkot Municipality.

 Similarly, 42 houses are being constructed in Dhangadhi sub-metropolis, 28 in Godavari municipality, nine in Gauriganga, 23 in Ghodaghodi, 14 in Bardagoria, 27 in Lamkichuha, 15 in Janaki, 21 in Bhajani and 21 in Tikapur.

 "The government is providing Rs. 336,000 per family to build a house," said Chief Devkota. According to him, there is a provision that every family and consumer committee should pay 10 percent labor. Rs. 55 million has been allocated for house construction in Kailali and Rs. 57.6 million in Kanchanpur.
