Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane have been found guilty by the Supreme Court in the citizenship case. According to the Supreme Court, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane have not regained citizenship of Nepal according to the laws of Nepal. The Supreme Court ruled that all the things he did as a Nepalese citizen were illegal.
The court held that he took US citizenship without renouncing Nepali citizenship and did not re-process to get Nepali citizenship again. Along with the verdict, he has been disqualified from his ministerial, and parliamentary posts as well as the chairmanship of the National Independent Party.
He was elected from Chitwan Region No. 2 in the House of Representatives elections.
Tight security arrangements were made around the Supreme Court this evening. Media workers were also present in the court in large numbers.
