Corona infections are increasing at an alarming rate in Baitadi. According to Yogesh Prasad Bhatta, chief of the health office, Baitadi is the most at risk among the hilly districts of the state at the moment.
He said, "The district is at high risk as it shares a border with the neighboring nation, India." Currently, the number of COVID infected in the district has reached 46.
According to the office source Chandan Subedi, the highest number of active cases is 17 in Dasharathchanda Municipality. Similarly, in Patan, Purchaundi, and Melauli municipalities, there are seven, four, and two in Pancheshwar, two in Sigas, one in Surnaya and one in Shivnath village. All are in home isolation.
A health desk has been set up at the border and all citizens entering Nepal are being tested for COVID-19. Citizens returning from the checkpoint are being tested by antigen method. The health office has urged all to follow health protocols to avoid corona infection. So far, 19 people have lost their lives due to the infection in the district. The vaccination drive for people over 18 years is accelerated in all 15 local levels in the district.
Requisition has been made with the Ministry of Health and Population to receive additional 60,000 doses of vaccine. Booster doses will be provided only after six months of receiving both doses of the vaccine.
